In the previous article, we discussed various types of network devices that are important for monitoring. Network monitoring is very much needed so that companies can achieve high availability. Therefore, we also need to know all the network devices that exist. In addition to the network devices that have been discussed (routers, wireless cards, LAN cards, bridges, and HUBs), there are still network devices that we have not discussed. The following are the network devices that we will discuss:

  1. Switch
The way this device works is almost the same as HUB, but the switch is smarter in dividing the connection signal. Using a switch, the network area can be better and faster to send data. This device can also overcome data collisions.
  2. Access Point
The function of this device is to transmit signals from the router. The signal is used to create a WLAN network. Access Point can also connect us to a LAN network without using cables. Then from the access point it can be said to be able to connect two different networks, namely wireless networks and LAN networks.
  3. Repeaters
Repeaters are network devices that can strengthen signals and expand the range of wifi signals. Repeaters make it easy for devices to access WiFi. Repeaters do not need to use cables to minimize cable usage.
  4. NIC
A Network Interface Card (NIC) is a card that can connect a computer to a LAN network. Devices can connect to a network using a cable.
  5. Connector
A connector is a vital tool for a computer device. If the connector is not installed, the computer cannot run optimally. The connector functions to connect the cable to the network adapter.

We understand and know the various network devices that must be monitored in a company. Not only one or two, but there are also more than five network devices that we must pay attention to. Imagine, in a company, there are many rooms, each of which has many network devices. Can it be managed by a network engineer? To avoid human error, and achieve effectiveness in working using a network monitoring tool is highly recommended. Network engineers will be assisted and can handle network problems faster.

When choosing a network monitoring tool, we must be careful and adjust our needs. First of all, we must know the various types of network monitoring tools available. Understand the advantages and disadvantages of each tool. After that, we can determine the right choice for our company. Have you chosen the right network monitoring tool?
